Plan with confidence

Good journeys
begin before the trail.

Practical guidance for choosing your season, preparing your body, and arriving ready.

First things first

You do not need to be an expert mountaineer.

Most Nepal tea-house treks are achievable for active people who train consistently, choose a sensible itinerary, and respect altitude. We’ll help you select a route that matches your experience and available time.

Choose the right season

Weather, trail conditions, and crowd levels vary widely through the year.

Build steady fitness

Regular hill walking and back-to-back active days matter more than speed.

Pack with purpose

Bring dependable layers and broken-in boots; hire specialised gear locally.

Respect altitude

Slow ascent, hydration, rest days, and honest communication keep teams safe.

When to trek

Nepal, season by season.

There is no single perfect month. The right window depends on the region and the experience you want.

March-May

Spring

Clear mornings, blooming rhododendrons, and warmer high-altitude days.

June-August

Summer

Monsoon on classic routes; a good window for rain-shadow regions such as Upper Mustang.

September-November

Autumn

Stable weather, crisp mountain views, and the most popular trekking season.

December-February

Winter

Quiet trails and bright skies, with cold nights and possible snow on high passes.

Eight weeks before

A simple preparation rhythm.

  1. Walk often.Build to one longer hilly walk each week, carrying a light day pack.
  2. Strengthen legs and core.Use squats, step-ups, and controlled descents two times per week.
  3. Test your equipment.Wear boots, layers, and backpack on training days before you fly.
  4. Arrive rested.Taper your training during the final week and prioritise sleep.
